What it is: Dry skin is skin that cracks easily, increasing the likelihood of infection and premature wrinkling. Dry skin can feel tight and/or intensely itchy at times.

What it is: This is the skin type every person wants to have – the skin has fine pores, is well supplied with blood and has a unified look all over. It is neither too oily nor too dry and is technically problem-free.

What it is: Oily skin looks shiny and has a sort of thickness to it that goes beyond being nice and firm. Pores appear larger and more visible. This skin type is prone to pimples, blackheads and whiteheads, because oiliness often leads to clogged pores.

What it is: Thin or fine-textured skin. It reacts quickly to both heat and cold, making it at risk for sunburn and windburn. Sensitive skin is commonly dry, delicate and prone to allergic reactions. Irritation can be triggered by temperature changes, some detergents, cosmetics and using products that contain alcohol. Some signs of sensitive skin include burning, itching, stinging, breakouts, patchy redness and rashes.

What it is: Some areas are oily - often the forehead, nose and chin (the T-zone) - while other areas (such as your cheeks) are normal to dry. Combination skin is known as the split personality of skin types.
